Danny Mott, B.A. Mus
Director of Mocombo.
CBC Radio3 Artist Profile
Music's mystical ability to heal is a powerful catalyst for a brighter and more positive future. Canada is one country in the world where all cultures can co-exist.
During his music studies at Toronto's Humber College, Danny also studied North Indian Hindustani Classical music. Private sitar studies with York University Professor Shambu Das led to a greater interest in other world music and ethnology. University studies in Anthropology and Ethnomusicology led to recording the popular song 'I Having A Bob Marley Moment'. Danny was also a charter member of organizing 'Echo of the World Drum Festival' with Northern Ontario aboriginal organizations.
Danny's passion for composition has inspired several Mocombo CD releases all varying in style and nature. With success in blues in Europe, reggae in Jamiaca, Cubanadian music in the U.S., Mocombo's CD releases in 2011 include urbanesque themes and fusion pop grooves. His discography includes many of his music videos and photos.
Mocombo's music and video releases include:
• 7 CD's
• 20 plus You Tube videos.
• A film documentary about the National Dance Company of Cuba, its history and dance philosophy.
• National Dance Company of Cuba performes to the music from Mocombo's instrumental CD 'Dreamscape'
• Three one hour specials on Cuban National Radio.
